We live in a world of hurry, financial demands, health struggles, exhausting traffic and work issues all the while needing to somehow cultivate time for ourselves. The beauty of being in Christian community is that we are encouraged to take this time to rest and rejuvenate.
The importance of our small groups and the relationships we establish at church is to have accountability to another human being that our priorities are being honored.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” -Thessalonians 5:11
Spending intentional time in fellowship helps us lead a life of purpose, joy and love. It is hard to be sad, depressed, or feel lost when you help another person and allow them to also help you—it’s a win-win! The necessary function of a Christian community is to ensure you are investing attention to your own needs and taking care of yourself, so you will give yourself permission to stop being so busy. In this quiet time, you can give and also receive God’s love through the interaction with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” - Matthew 18:20
