Let’s take a look at this very powerful verse in Isaiah 43:4. “Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you.” Wow! God is saying that we are precious to Him. Are there others to whom you feel precious? Is there anyone in your life who is precious to you? In God’s eyes, you are precious to Him. When I think of the word “precious,” I think of gold or various gems. They are rare, special, and very valuable. Their value doesn’t go down, in fact, it goes up over time. We are very careful with these precious items because they have great worth. My engagement ring is somewhat valuable in cost but even more precious to me because my husband made a commitment using this ring to cherish me as long as we both live. My children are precious to me and thus no amount of money, time or other sacrifice is too great for me to keep them safe, growing, and thriving in life.
The problem with this verse is that we do not believe it and/or see how amazing it is that the Almighty King and Creator of the Universe sees each one of us as precious. No cost is too great for Him to assure that we spend eternity with Him. In fact, He sacrificed the life of His own Son so that we could come into an eternal relationship with Him. Every day, He looks upon us as His precious, cherished child. NO ONE has ever cherished us as much as God does! We are His treasured possession. We belong to the Lord (Isaiah 44:5, 1 Peter 2: 9-10). He has “engraved us on the palms of His hands” (Isaiah 49:16). The challenge for us is to not see God as being just like our parents or other people. He views us as His precious daughters. He painstakingly protects and cares for us. He continually pours out His love to us. He constantly pays attention to us. He has planned out a wonderfully fulfilling plan and purpose for our lives. He listens to all our prayers and is at work even when we cannot see what He is doing.
Take a moment to stop and pray and give God thanks for this amazing love and declare out loud that you are precious to Him. Take time to sit and meditate on this beautiful Truth and let His Spirit affirm this in your heart.
